Case performed with Noris Medical zygomatic and pterygoid implants by Dr.Dror Shamir.
Female patient, 73 years old, presented with the absence of teeth at the upper right jaw. A failed sinus lift procedure was performed 2 years ago.
Treatment Plan
After radiological and CT assessments it was decided the extraction of #13. Place a Tuff implant in the first premolar position, a Zygomatic implant in the second premolar, and a Pterygoid implant.
The surgical procedure was performed without complications, achieving good primary stability of the implants.
Conclusions
The zygomatic implant – the zygomaticus fixture – appears to be a promising development in implant technology. It offers an interesting alternative solution to complex bone grafting in the severely resorbed posterior maxilla. The combination of a regular implant, Zygomatic and pterygoid gives us an excellent torque for immediate loading, giving back the masticatory function to the patient.
Moreover, this technique enhances the psychological and the esthetic outcomes.
